Welcome to the Transnational Architecture Group (TAG) blog, based at the Liverpool School of Architecture and directed by Iain Jackson.

TAG was established to provide a forum for scholars investigating the import/export of architectural ideas and forms from one region to another. We do not seek to impose geographical boundaries nor limits to age or style; but rather seek a broad research base to investigate the development of transnational architecture throughout the ages.

A current strand of the group’s research is to investigate the architecture and architects connected to colonial enterprises and, during the aftermath of colonialism, the architecture of recently independent nations.

The blog is a means to chart progress of the group’s various research projects, share information on useful sources, and forge links where research and networks intertwine.
